The Wiggles: Wiggle Time (2007) ReviewWe saw the "Quack Quack" song on the beginning of a Barney movie and loved it so much I purchased this video. It's terrific! My 16-month old daughter loves it and so does the rest of the family (my 7 year old daughter, my husband and I). She dances and claps and says "Baw" everytime the ball comes on between songs. I find myself singing or humming the tunes even when the movie is over - they are very catchy and a nice change to the Barney songs I've heard a billion times in the last 7 years (not that we don't like Barney too)! I will enjoy watching my daughter grow with this tape and learn to follow along with the dance steps and songs. She has already learned how to do the quack, quack and cocka-doodle-doo motions from the repetition at the beginning of the Barney movie. It's too cute! I HIGHLY recommend this for young children of all ages. I'm sure it would be great in a daycare setting too - the more the merrier!The Wiggles: Wiggle Time (2007) OverviewHey everyone! The Wiggles Magical Adventure - A Wiggly Movie (2003) ReviewMy 22-month-old loves this movie ("WallyWallyWally," as she calls it--a reference to the theme song about the film's protagonist), and she will gladly sit through it several times straight through if I allow her to. Initially, I was surprised. She adores The Wiggles, and we own quite a few of their videos. Yet, at her age, her attention span is short, and she typically gets up and leaves the room after just a few songs, regardless of which tape she's watching.
So, when I sat down to watch this with her the first time and saw that it was a traditional movie, with dialogue and plot, I didn't expect much. But for some reason, it holds her interest, and she does her best to explain to me what's going on in the simple but pleasant story (regarding a sad-sack magician, Dorothy's disappearance on her birthday, and The Wiggles' efforts to find her in time for her surprise party).
After a few viewings, the film began to remind me more than a little of "Barney's Great Adventure," which my son became similarly addicted to five years ago. The two have a lot in common--similar plots and production, simple set dressings featuring bold colors, slapstick comedy, cheesey special effects, etc. But I would rather watch this film any day than that one, as I suspect most parents would.
The film isn't great, but it's not horrible, either. And over time, it's more likely to hold the kids' interest than the monotony of the song-collection videos from the group.The Wiggles Magical Adventure - A Wiggly Movie (2003) Overview

The Wiggles: Live Hot Potatoes (2007) ReviewIf you've ever seen the Wiggles live, then you know just how fantastic their live shows are. This video is a must-have for nothing else, a keepsake. It's full of stuff from their recent tour, and even has Santa in there at the end. They go around looking for Jeff again, complete with the blow-up balloon. My little one went upstairs and grabbed his guitar and was playing along with most of the show. Then he went after his keyboard and gave me the guitar and we played together! You can't passively watch the Wiggles - you just have to get up and dance along. They do such a fantastic job too - it never ceases to amaze me the amount of time an thought that goes into their shows. This video gives a glimpse of what they did here in the US - they showed them driving in the Big Red Car, going under signs for Columbus, then driving into the auditorium and the next thing you see is them driving out in the Big Red Car onto the stage. That about floored my husband, who is a teacher as well (so are the Wiggles). He just keeps remarking at all the attention the Wiggles give to the details to keep the kids' attention while teaching them at the same time. They're learning and they don't even know it. Just like Leapfrog products! I'm still wondering how Greg dances like a noodle up there - he's got to be double-jointed!
Don't expect this to be a quick view and leave video either - it's 140 minutes long! Some of the cinematography could have been better though on this - the dark shots turned blue, and Anthony produced the musical portion and some of Greg's vocals are a little "hot" here and there, but kids don't care much about that. And, unless you're a musician or in the music business, you're not going to notice it much. That's my only criticism of this video. It's especially nice to hear Captain Feathersword sing "Eagle Rock." I loved it when they had him flying on a trapeze out into the audience during their recent shows here and guess what? It's on this video too! That definitely made our day here. My little one was just as mesmerized by it again when he saw the video.
Another highlight of this video is that it is totally live. There's no canned studio tracks being used on this one. They have a live orchestra up there, complete with backup singers. Dom Lindsey is the orchestra director, complete in white hat and tails, and leads the orchestra, plays trumpet (hey, it's worth the cost of the video just to hear him play!), and even sings as one of the "three tenors" with Captain Feathersword. Awesome part for us music people out there!
Great, great stuff, I highly recommend it and if you're new to the Wiggles, grab this guy and get "Toot, Toot" too. That still is their best one, in my humble opinion besides this one. Great job Wiggles and thanks very much for caring about the quality of products being directed towards our children. The Wiggles Go Bananas (2009) ReviewI am giving 5 stars because it's that good to me. My 3 year old son loves the dvd and I have to say I enjoyed it as well. An added bonus to me was, getting to see all the "real" animals. The wiggles are dressed as animals and that is cute and makes the kids laugh, but it also has lots of live animals. And of course all kids love animals. If you are a wiggles fan or if your little one loves animals you can't go wrong with this one. It's full of toe tapping songs, and lots of wiggle fun. I will have to say I missed seeing Benny in this dvd. I guess he has left the wiggles. Captain feathersword hasn't went anywhere:) He's still a ball of fun for the kids. The captain and Anthony is our favorites. The Wiggles - Dance Party ReviewMy two daughters (ages 3 and 18 mos.) love the Wiggles and this particular program is loads of fun. Both girls dance, jump around and have a blast to this program. However, I was extremely disappointed with the DVD transfer. Hit Entertainment obviously doesn't think parents care a hoot about DVD production values on kids titles. There are no menus (the video simply begins when the tape loads), no features (a song menu would have been the least we could expect), and finally--and this is absolute rock bottom--the chapter stops are completely random, often coming in the middle of a song or skit. I realize this is an old tape being re-released on DVD, but someone should have at least put the chapter stops at logical points throughout the program and given viewers a menu so that we could get to our kids' favorite spots quickly. It's a shame that such little care was put into the DVD production values for such a good program.
