Fear of a Punk Planet, Vol. 1 ReviewWhen I saw that am@zon not only had no reviews for this video but no description as well, I knew I had to write this review. This Kung Fu records released movie is SLC Punk done right. Unlike SLC Punk this movie has a REAL Plot. It's also hilarious! Something that SLC Punk rarely was. Plus, after the movie it has exclusive live footage from NOFX, Sick of it All, Good Riddance, Ataris, and The Bounding Souls. This movie begins with NOFX playing live at a punk club called "The Baby Seal". This is a movie to say "... authority" to. Because you watch as the evil fire marshal abuses his power to close down the "menacing" punk club for so called "sanitary" reasons. Due to the claims the fire marshal put on, the club the club owner admits defeat. However, 4 punks: an Epitaph punk, crusty punk, Pop/Punker, and hardcore kid band together to save their scene. They re-open the Baby Seal as a non-profit organization so the city ordinances won't apply to it. You get to watch as the 4 punks conquer various obstacles on their way, argue about the meaning of punk rock, and create hilarious dialogue while doing it. Whether you like crusty, pop/punk or hardcore, this is a must have for any die hard punk rocker. You WILL be satisfied.Fear of a Punk Planet, Vol. 1 Overview

Dead Kennedys - In God We Trust Inc. - The Lost Tapes (2003) ReviewIf your a DK fan " BUY THIS DVD "
The first part of this dvd is in the studio in 1981, and shows what it's like making a punk rock record back in the day. The 2nd part is live videos from 1979-86. I really dug the live videos ( some come from old bootlegs ) but still hold up like they were shot yesterday. The songs are only from the IN GOD WE TRUST , INC album, so no songs from bedtime, frankenchrist, P.S.D.or fresh fruit but who cares, this dvd is better than The early years & DMPO. I just hope that there are more DK dvd like this on the way!!!

Neurosis - A Sun That Never Sets (2002) ReviewIf you are like me and have been touched by the masterpiece "A Sun That Never Sets" than this DVD is a dream come true. Each segment is surreal and creative... the visuals are very sharp, and the colors are just awesome (gotta love the deep, dark blue in "The Tide")The effects are just amazing... Just like the cd, these visuals are easy to just get lost in... My favorite would be the last one, Stones From the Sky... it is just amazing...
Its almost pointless to go on writing a review like this and to describe the visuals. Obviously, they aren't meant to be described. They have to be seen. If you are a fan of Neurosis...any band similar to Neurosis... hell, if you are just a music fan or someone who likes great surreal videos... this DVD is a MUST own.
As for the Tribes of Neurot addition, basically what they did was play the cd in an empty room, record it, then play it back and record it again many times.... the early songs represent the small amount of repetitions, up to Stones From the Sky, which was done 30 times... I don't know what to say about this... it is REALLY wierd... after 3 or 4 tracks, it just degenerates into eerie noise... the visuals are certainly not the quality of the others, but still fit as they are pretty creepy.Neurosis - A Sun That Never Sets (2002) Overview

Who The Hell Is Pete Doherty (2005) ReviewThe second half of this DVD, and maybe especially the extended interview in the "extras", does show why Doherty enthralls fans and captivates the media. His talent and charm and intelligence are prodigious, and they shine through even in this second-rate piece of hagiography. But the first half is almost chilling, as Doherty's friends and bandmates come across as the "vampires" of lyrics by Carl Barat, Doherty's former partner in the Libertines. Barat once described Babyshambles as Doherty's "denial band" because it denies that Doherty's crack and heroin use are problems. That really comes through here. The narrator even describes Doherty kicking in Barat's door and stealing from him to sell his treasures as "borrowing", with the things later "showing up" (or some similar term) in a pawnshop. It's disturbing to see Doherty's friends try to insulate him to a destructive degree, and it's to Doherty's credit that they don't seem to fully succeed. But it's painful to hear Doherty's take on Barat's putting the Libertines on ice. It's even sadder to hear what that situation did to him--this is not just some junkie rock star, as toss-off tabloid articles assert, this is a genius songwriter, and anyone who's heard, say, F*** Forever, has to be grateful that he pulled himself out of that and continued writing. But it's tough watching him ramble and bristle while obviously too high to be lucid, much less creative. (As he put it, if he's holding a crack pipe, he's not holding a guitar.) This is not a good documentary by any measure, but in spite of itself, it is a fascinating look at a fascinating talent.Who The Hell Is Pete Doherty (2005) Overview

SLC Punk: Original Soundtrack ReviewSomeone wrote a review and mentioned some missing songs from the soundtrack that were in the movie, and couldn't figure out what the name or band was that did one of the songs. I don't know if this helps but the name of the song you're looking for is "Gangster" and it was done by The Specials. It was the scene where Heroin Bob and Steve-O are trying to get beer but the cop calls for an officer to follow them because he knows they are "Going to be trouble" as Steve-O says, and Bob and Steve-O get into a fight with the redneck cops. The next scene where Steve-O, Bob, and their friend are driving to Wyoming is "Beat My Guest" Hope that helps!
