Pussy ReviewSo Rammstein is at it again and recently released two songs from their upcoming album. The first song, "Pussy," is pretty self explanatory. Gone are the clever lyrics Rammstein is known for, but they more than make up for it with good, rousing, typical, Rammstein metal. The music is pure Rammstein. Actually, upon first listen, it seems they recycled several old songs to create this song. I don't fault them for this, as the song still manages to stand on its own. It has a bit more of a pop beat, akin to Moscow or Amerika. Since I tend to appreciate the newer albums by Rammstein, I give this song 4 1/2 stars. For fans of the older Rammstein, they also include the B-rate single "Rammlied." This song has the brooding anger with menacing guitars that skyrocketed Rammstein to international fame with their first two albums. As I said earlier, I am not as big of a fan of their early work, so I rate this song 3 stars.
In conclusion, judging from this CD, Rammstein is back with much of their old thunder. I would be satisfied with another typical Rammstein CD, but I am hoping they manage to stretch their genre a little more than the samples we see on this single.
If not, ehh, it's still Rammstein.
PS: For those of you older than 18, you may want to check out the music video to "Pussy." You can do an online search to locate the unedited version, or watch the edited version on youtube. Be forewarned: This video contains nudity (hell, it's basically a porno). Not very clever like their music videos of the past, but what it lacks in vision, it more than makes up in controversy. Let's just say that this music video isn't going to see much air time on MTV.Pussy Overview

Metal Machine Music: Nine Inch Nails And The Industrial Uprising (2009) Reviewthe DVD starts off with how Industrial music started... it goes on on that for about 40min. then when it hits NiN it pretty much leaves out any Industrial band that was after them... I got this DVD because of NiN so I really enjoyed watching it but if you want to buy a DVD about Inustrial music and bands I dont thik this is for you. The DVD covers Pretty Hate M. all the way to "The Slip" It has awesome interviews and clips of nin Vids. No Trent though. Show & Tell (2010) ReviewThis DVD is a must have for any fan of The Birthday Massacre, regardless of if you've seen them live already or not. The video quality is pretty decent, and their performance is always so beautiful, energetic and artistic. Chibi (the lead singer) is always so adorable with her behavior on stage, this DVD really brings out the personality in every band member. I even found myself clapping along when Chibi would do it as if I were actually participating in the audience. Chibi's was on top of her game the night this was filmed and her voice sounds wonderful.
What they don't tell you for some (stupid) reason is that this video is TWO CONCERTS! haha. They're selling it as one, just the live one in Germany, but in the bonus features section, the entire M'era Luna performance of 2005 is in there! I don't know why its just considered a bonus feature, I think they'd sell more if they actually told people. Maybe its supposed to be a surprise to the fans buying the DVD and i'm currently spoiling their fun (Sorry if I am, TBM). The M'era Luna performance is really cool too because its in the daytime outside, so on an HDTV it looks WAY cooler than the Germany night time main performance this DVD has. There is also a little bonus feature of an interview with TBM on the DVD, and they actually said "we didn't even know this was going to be a DVD, we were surprised" which means this concert is raw, real TBM. They didn't go on stage that night with the intent to show off for the DVD, which makes it even more special. It shows that this is how all TBM shows are. High energy, beautifully artistic, and wonderfully executed.
I'd also like to add that the people who filmed and edited the DVD did a great job. It's not just a still shot of their concert. Sometimes the camera will kind of go into "slow motion" and turn certain ways with different camera effects, it makes it really fun to watch. It gives the concert even more depth and makes it very unique. Some shots you'll feel like you're literally on stage with them probably tripping over all their cords (hoping you wont break anything since they have so much electronic equipment and stuff on their stage haha), then all of a sudden you'll be in the back of the audience seeing a view of all of the action.
Seriously, even if you don't have any idea who The Birthday Massacre are, just still buy it. Take yourself on a wonderful audio/video journey just because its an experience you'll never forget.Show & Tell (2010) Overview

How to Destroy Angels ReviewIf there is one thing I was hoping for with the release of the eponymous EP from How To Destroy Angels it was for something completely beyond the norm for Trent Reznor. I'm a HUGE Nine Inch Nails fan, so as far as I am concerned, anything the man touches is solid gold (and I haven't been let down yet). HTDA is no exception; it's a quality record from a quality group of musicians. My only complaint would be that it does sound a little too NIN-ish. Some of these tracks sound like they could have been b-sides or unreleased tracks from Year Zero, which wouldn't have been a bad thing if this was a Nails release. It sounds as though Trent is trying to get out of his comfort zone here but just can't seem to get all the way out. Some tracks are stellar standouts that offer a lot of hope that some amazing things are in the works; "Fur Lined" in particular has a very unique feel that sets it apart from Reznor's previous work. "The Space In Between" is a bit out there for him, but still manages to toe that line of comfortability. The addition of Mariqueen Maandig-Reznor certainly adds an interesting element to the equation, her vocals are haunting and breathy which does wonders for the music; Reznor singing would have not made quite the impact.
All in all, this is a good record; not a great one, but a good one. If Trent and company can find a way to get themselves out of their comfort zone, they could deliver a truly amazing album.How to Destroy Angels Overview
