Big Daddy ReviewI have no idea why Rufus would have a song on this inane movie's soundtrack, but he does. This is the main reason to buy this CD. Garbage is great as well, and Sheryl Crow is ok, I like her cover of "Sweet Child of Mine", but she will never rock it like Axl Rose. Keep trying, maybe she can cover Motley Crue "Shout at the Devil" next. MAIN POINT, RUFUS IS DA MAN.Big Daddy Overview

Damage: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ReviewZbigniew Preisner captures the perfect music for such an emotionally charged movie. The melodies fill you with the sadness and despair that the charcters are portraying on the screen. Rarely do you find a movie where the music is just as powerful as the acting! Louis Malle definitely chose the right composer to bring everything together so brilliantly.Damage: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Overview

Far from Heaven (Score) ReviewIn contrary to the other readers' opinions, I found Bernstein's score a real 'charmer'. It sounds very 50s, and is deserving of the glowing accolades it has received in the media. This score is one of my favourite Elmer Bernstein scores. The quality of this score leaves modern scores for dead. If only film music would return to the golden -silver era once again. If this score doesn't get an Oscar nomination, I'll be very disappointed.

Halloween II: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ReviewFor Halloween II the famous themes and cues were taken and given a grander treatment with some booming synthesizers and more instrumentation. The result might jar a few people at first, but give it a chance--this is a very rewarding, creepy horror film soundtrack.
The disc is short, and many of the themes are reused and somewhat recycled, not unlike the original soundtrack. All in all though you can listen to this disc beginning to end and get a great feeling for the film. Halloween II is a darker, more expressionistic film than the first while at the same time being more of a typical stalk-and-slash piece.
The real gem is the inclusion of Mr. Sandman by the Cordettes. I think it's the best use of this famous song in a film. Playing briefly before the prologue, the song plays in its entirety at the end of the film, extending into the credits. A cheery tune, it has forever been transformed into a somewhat sinister jingle for me after watching the film--and I love it. Definitely a nice stylistic choice by the filmmakers. The song's lyrics feature the female singers asking "Mr. Sandman" to bring them a dream--a dream man, in this case. The dream man in the film is, of course, the boogeyman in Michael Meyers. "Make him the cutest that I've ever seen" is juxtaposed with the plain, white-faced mask of the killer.
The best instrumental track here, to me, is "The Shape Stalks Again". It's the stalking music from the original film--the eerie, single-note piano bit--given a bolder treatment that is booming but still creepy. It leads into the operating room music, with its tense buildup to the climax.
Halloween II is a case where the filmmakers had more money, more time, and more resources, and they didn't squander it. Alan Howarth and Carpenter did justice to one of the most famous movie themes ever. It's not better or worse, it's different and very rewarding in its own right. This disc is a must for Halloween fans.Halloween II: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Overview

Rules of Attraction ReviewIt seems that nobody figured out that the songs on this cd are in the exact order that they appear in the film.
Carol of the Bells by tomandandy is the song that plays during the opening sequence at the party. Great Instrumental (4/5)
The song playing when Sean wakes up in the sprinklers is Six Different Ways by The Cure. Reminded me of being in the womb again (5/5)
The song playing when Paul is dancing at the end of the world party (when he's flirting with Mitch) Out of the Races and On to the Tracks - The Rapture. Great Garage/Indie song. (5/5)
When Lauren and Sean wake up and end up meeting each other is Colours by Donova. Mellow track (4/5)
Situation - Yaz A neat 80s Electro song. (4/5)
Sunday Girl - Blondie A Nice Classic(5/5)
So Alive - Love and Rockets (4/5)
Pre-Saturday Night Party Party - tomandandy (3/5)
I can't remember the precise moment that these songs come up in the movie. Situation might be the song that's playing in the car when Harry? (Jay Baruchel) is ODing.

Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band. The song where Sean is erm... well... pleasures himself, anticipating a night with Lauren (4/5)
Faith by George Michael (The scene with Dick and Paul in their underwear) is missing from the soundtrack and that's a bummer because it's one of the best scenes.
The song from the Dress to get screwed party that's missing from the soundtrack is When I get you alone by Thicke there's a sample from the phantom of the opera. It's also an awesome song, but it would mess up this CD's lineup.
Without You - Harry Nilsson. The song where the food service girl kills herself. A Classic (4/5)

European Vacation - tomandandy Victor is talking about his trip, I didn't need to here the whole narration though. (3/5)
The Gentleman Who Fell - Milla Jovovich I don't remember when this song comes up but I hate it anyways (2/5)
Snow Theater/Final Steps - tomandandy This is one of the best songs, when Paul and Sean both realize that they'll never get the one that they love. (5/5)
Stop - Erasure the awesome 80s song from the credits (5/5)Rules of Attraction Overview

A View From the Top ReviewWhen I go to a movie or see the previews for it, usually the music is a big part of what sells me on it. I have many cds from movies just for that reason, because they rock. And oftentimes, as with Moulin Rouge, William Shakespears Romeo And Juliet, The Wedding Singer, Boogie Nights and Romy and Michelles High School Reunion the music is so good we get two cds for our listening pleasure. Well, I am sad to say that they have made a grave mistake with the release of this cd. We can only hope that they smarten up and actually release another cd that includes the music that was actually included and used in the movie. Songs such as Cyndi Lauper's Time After TIme, Journey's Don't Stop Believing, The Jackson 5 and if I recall correctly they even used some Guns and Roses among some other dandies I can't recall at the moment. Even more blatent is the lack of the ending credit sequence, with cast singing. That, to me, would seem to be essential to the sountrack. The movie itself was pure pleasure. Predictable but a well spent 2 hours. When music can be included as such an integral part of the movie and make me want to go and buy that sountrack, I consider that an amazing movie going experience. Because I will remember the movie and will recommend it. Unfortunatly, with this movie-as with so many other movies today, they felt the need to throw us a soundtrack that has nothing to do really with the making and feel of the movie. If you want the real soundtrack you are going to have to do some compiling of your own to find the great songs featured in the movie and maybe revisit your days of the '80s and make yourself a "mix-tape".A View From the Top Overview

Step Up 3D (OST) ReviewI love dance movies because in general, they have awesome soundtracks. Step Up in 3D certainly doesn't disappoint. These songs may not say something profound about the world but they can certainly make you want to dance. While there are several nice club songs, my favorite is definitely "Bust Your Windows" by Jazmine Sullivan--the song is a slower with a sensual vibe more fitting the tango than getting crunk. The majority of the album though is mostly r&b/rap with a definite dance influence with lots of synthesized sounds. Perfect for a summer night.Step Up 3D (OST) Overview

Gabriel Soundtrack ReviewThis sound track is absolutely beautiful and reflects the movie. It is sad at times but also hopeful. It is beautiful to hear the voice of Andy Whitfield who plays Gabriel because his voice is extraordinary. I've listened to this cd so many times and will keep listening to it. It is one of the most moving sound tracks I've heard in a long time.Gabriel Soundtrack OverviewThis Soundtrack really takes the journey that we took in the film; Snippets of dialogue are pulled from the film And sound design elements from Purgatory.Cachia Scrupulously unites Rich Orchestrations and full vocal choirs along with a haunting soprano lead vocal, Heavy tribal beats and grooves along with explosions of heavy rock.It comes with a six page booklet displaying shots from the film.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) ReviewReally, the whole reason I bought this CD was to listen to the Sloth Sing-a-long. I was slightly dissapointed by the short length of it, but it is still one of the most catchy and fun tunes to listen to in the whole soundtrack. I was suprised by the rest of the soundtrack, it was very full of fun and enjoyable to listen to. Many of the songs are very rich in thick harmony, and heartwarming to listen to.Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Overview

Informers ReviewI rented the Film called, " The Informers" because it had a "all star cast", after watching the horrible movie, I very much enjoyed the early 1980's songs that were played through out this bad movie. It brought back alot of memories for me, as I lived in California during the time that this movie supposedly took place. Alot of the music played on this soundtrack, you cannot hear on regular radio anymore, so if you don't want to order satellite radio, or buy a HD radio, this is a variety of what you can call a "greatest Hits of the 1980's", C.D...Informers Overview

When You're Strange (Songs From The Motion Picture) ReviewThe Doors have spent years finding new ways to re-package and re-sell the same basic songs from their six studio albums. Now they have a new excuse for yet another release, a documentary about the history of the band which of course opens the door for a "soundtrack."
The album for "When You're Strange" is basically the same recordings a Doors fanatic or casual classic rock listener probably already has in earlier releases, such as the much superior "The Very Best Of The Doors" and of course, the albums themselves. For die hard members of the Jim Morrison cult the only noteworthy new material here are the poetry readings by actor Johnny Depp (who narrates the film), most of them only last a few seconds, but does that matter to Morrison's disciples? It is a shame though, how short the poetry tracks are, because Depp's voice adds a nice, dark atmosphere to the words, like a fellow literary rebel reciting strange visions and ideas.
The other "new" material here are "live tracks" basically lifted from TV performances such as the notorious "Light My Fire" performance from the Ed Sullivan Show and a scorching "When The Music's Over" from European TV. But the quality of these tracks is so scratchy and fuzzy that you're better off with the actual performance footage found in Doors DVD releases which have much cleaner audio. The Doors fanatic will no doubt want to get them just for the sake of having them but the casual listener will find little reason for adding the recordings to their iPods. The same goes for the "interview clips" featuring the band, short clips which, again, are simply lifted from video sources most fans purchased long ago.
The music of The Doors is of course classic, powerful and timeless. Songs like "Moonlight Drive" and "People Are Strane" retain their dark, poetic power while "Break On Through" and "Soul Kitchen" are exciting numbers with killer rhythms. The beautiful "The Crystal Ship" is here as well with its wonderous visions and lush melodies and "The End" remains the band's epic masterpiece. But of course anyone who loves The Doors already knows all this. And those who loved 2007's remixed albums will find the original recordings which of course, they probably already own.
Some are saying that criticisms of this release are unfounded because hey, it is a SOUNDTRACK to a film after all. True, but reviewed as a product, it has little to offer Doors fans and for the newly initiated, they are better off getting the band's albums which are the true testament of any musical group. Wouldn't a new fan prefer the actual studio versions of "Light My Fire" and "When The Music's Over" anyway? "When You're Strange" is no doubt a fascinating film, but as a soundtrack, it's just more recycled product which you probably already have sitting somewhere in your CD collection or downloaded into your iPod.
