With Toquinho & Bethania En La Fusa ReviewLa Fusa was a "cafe concert" (night club) located in Mar del Plata, Argentina in the late sixties, and later moving to Punta del Este, Uruguay. The two cities were, and are, the playground of the Argentine high class (and increasingly middle class as well). Vinicius brought his great Brazilian musicians to demonstrate the wonderfullness of bossa nova to appreciating crowds. There are two recordings, this one made I believe in Mar del Plata, and another one (referred to above) made in Punta del este with Maria Creuza, which is also wonderful. Bee Gees - Live by Request (2001) ReviewRecording with an audience of less than 1,000, this DVD feels like a club recording with it's Dolby Ditigal and DTS audio sound. Host Mark McEwen gushes a tad much and the 'Live by Request' gimmick is not original. Still, it manages to captivate. Fifteen songs (one a medley of eight), five being from the last album, it's a collection that defies the ear with the groups tight instrumentals and harmonies. "She Keep On Coming" and "You Should Be Dancing" rock the house, while "Sacred Trust" and "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" lull the audience into a trance. This recording is unique in that there are plenty of star 'call-ins' and lots of joking around. Its surprising to hear Barry sing, "Woman In Love", but "Nights On Broadway" is, once again, cut far too short for a song that contains some of their best work.
This is as close as a great live recording gets and a DVD well worth owning. WordWorld: My Fuzzy Valentine ReviewI bought this DVD along with the Christmas DVD episode of Word World, because my son loves the series and i liked the idea of buying the holiday-oriented ones. But there is only 30 min of actual episode playing time on this - it is not 60 min. The other 30 min are commercials. In my opinion, 30 min of commercials, along with 2 15 min episodes, does not add up to '60 min playing time' and therefore this DVD is not worth the money i paid for it. I won't be purchasing any more of these 2-episode sets.WordWorld: My Fuzzy Valentine Overview
