BASHMENT: THE FORK IN THE ROAD (2007) ReviewI heard my father talk about this movie for quite some time and when I went home to NYC for a visit I went to Tony Ryan's record shop in the Bronx and purchased a copy. The amazing thing was while talking to the owner of the record shop Mykal Fax the young man who made the film was there. Mykal is a very humble young man with a tremendous amount of creativity.
Bashment is a story about the lives of Jamaican people living in Brooklyn, New York. This is an independent film so the quality will not be as professional as a regular movie,but it is good. The story is about four friends and the choices they make in life, some make good choices and others fall by the wayside. Filled with action, comedy & plenty dancehall tunes it is a great movie and I recommend it highly!!!!!BASHMENT: THE FORK IN THE ROAD (2007) Overview

Bashment Granny (2008) ReviewMy experience with watching Jamaican movies has most always been positive: SHOTTAS, DANCEHALL QUEEN, COUNTRYMAN, and THE HARDER THEY FALL were all excellent movies. Not only because they were well-produced, but also because they have English subtitles---and thus, you can follow the dialogue---even if you can't always understand the Jamaican patois (pat-twah.) However, the movie BASHMENT GRANNY, not only had no subtitles, it was a badly produced copy of an on-stage play, and had bad audio as well. It was almost incomprehensible to me---as a non-Jamaican.
Normally, I would have just kept this movie and never watched it again. But, as I do like most Jamaican movies, I decided to return it (at my own expense) after contacting the the seller by e-mail @[Jamanzie-Amazon Marketplace] and he promised a refund. (As such, I was inclined to purchase something else from him at a later time.) However, after having returned the movie, I never received the refund. And for $13.00 bucks will make no big deal of it. But be aware of this particular seller...JAMANZIE. For myself, I will purchase nothing in the future from this seller...but you can decide for yourself.Bashment Granny (2008) Overview

Coping with Babylon: The Proper Rastology (2007) ReviewI personally loved this documentary. For the first time we get to see a high quality documentary take us inside a Rasta Camp and interview the founder Dermot Fagan who is a great character.
A good all round view of Rastafari in the 21st century.
This film shows us that not all Rasta's have the same beliefs and not all believe that Haile Selassie is God or that repatriation means moving to Africa but for many it's a place in ones mind. The film helps to dismiss many of the rumours about Rastafari and speaks to important members of different houses of Rastafari.

Why is it that whenever Bob is about to go in depth about a particular subject, the filmmakers cut to him performing? How could they not address the Wailers break up? I mean they literally ignore it. Isn't the break up as significant as them getting together in the first place? Did Marley's music regress, progress or stagnate after Bunny and Peter left? How did Bob feel about Bunny and Tosh leaving? And what happened to Bunny anyway? You see him early on and then you don't see him again. Since he's the only one alive of the three, doesn't his opinion have more weight than most.
