District 9 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) ReviewIf you enjoy soundtracks to movies like The Dark Knight, The Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring (The Complete Recordings), and Gladiator you are going to be blown away by this score. Like the film District 9, Clinton Shorter comes out of left field and takes you completely by surprise with an unforgettable score that impressively mixes an emotional hybrid of South African native vocals with dark electronic and orchestral rhythm and suspense-driven percussion on tracks like Exosuit and Prawnkus to create a powerfully moving and epic soundtrack reminiscent of more accomplished veteran film composers like James Newton Howard, Howard Shore and Hans Zimmer. His previous composing credits were primarily scoring for Canadian television and short films including Director Neil Blomkamp's Alive In Joburg which was the inspiration for the theatrical film District 9 [Theatrical Release]. His ambitious score for D9 is one of the most creatively inspiring film scores I've heard in years and I eagerly look forward to hearing more of up-and-comer Clinton Shorter's work for years to come. The soundtrack is available only from Amazon.com and iTunes and contains just under 30 minutes of material and reasonably priced for under ten bucks it's definitely a keeper.District 9 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Overview
