Crank: High Voltage ReviewLike the reviewer before me, I'm a huge Mike Patton fan. Once you get into his work, be it music or his voice acting, you just get too impatient to deal with a lesser standard of entertainment like the majority of what's out there on the radio or on TV and, in this case, theaters. If you're wondering how this particular album sounds, however, first try to imagine what the perfect soundtrack to Crank would've been like. And since this movie is more violent and frenetic, the music should be as well, right? Well, it is and it isn't. Patton's scored one of the best atmospheric releases I've heard in so long - creepy when it needs to be, exciting and chaotic when our buddy Chev is going to town on dudes who don't know, and downright funky in-between everything else. You can hear the authentic traditional strings in his Asian inspired tracks like "Massage Parlor" which is just stunning and then you can hear his Korn meets Silent Hill crunchy beats-laden rock number for "The Hammer Drops." The theme for "El Huron" feels like Ennio Morricone doing music for a B-movie about space shamans. If you download one song from this soundtrack, make it "Noticias." Why? Funniest, most out-of-place 11 seconds you'll hear on any CD. Let's face it, if you don't like Mike Patton's knack for mixing 4 genres in 2 minutes, this soundtrack will hurt your brain - but if you're the kind of guy who's willing to see Crank 2, this'll most likely be up your alley.Crank: High Voltage OverviewWant to learn more information about Crank: High Voltage?
