Iced Earth: Festival of the Wicked (2011) ReviewFestivals of the Wicked is a great purchase for Iced Earth fans new and old and I'd say for metal fans in general. I'm a pretty big collector of the metal music dvds. I know this will be in heavy rotation for a while.
I suppose this may give the band some closure to the Barlow era and also give Owens his due as well. That being said,
this is a 2 disc set. You get 3 full headlining concerts: 2 w/ Barlow on vocals and one with Owens. Great setlists. Great production/sound. The 5.1 surround sound fills my living room up like I'm at the venues. Visually strong-pro shot stuff here.
There's a booklet included with some nice full color pics, credits, and a note from Jon Schaffer about the dvd and the future of Iced Earth. Bonus features include 2 photo galleries set to music from the band and you also get all the music videos the band has released in their career (except Desert Rain), and a TV commercial spot for the Framing Armageddon album.
Also included is the long awaited documentary. More of an interview style piece with all the band members w/ some concert footage and backstage/on the road material intermingled throughout. This portion is 60 minutes long not the 90 minutes that some places are advertising. But I digress, this is a great dvd package and shows the band at their peak with both vocalists doing what they do best. The band is tight as hell, like a well oiled machine at this point. I recommend Festivals of the Wicked along with the seperate cd companion of the same name.Iced Earth: Festival of the Wicked (2011) Overview
