How Can I Tell (1992) ReviewThis video is excellent to use with high school students. I use in this video while discussing relationships-the difference between love and infatuation. While the video was made several years ago, the topics discussed are very up-to-date for teens today. The video explains the difference between love and infatuation in "teen terms" and assists teachers in explaining a rather tough topic to teach. I would recommend the video to all high school relationships teachers! How Can I Tell (1992) Overview

Animal Instinct / Paparazzi on Mopeds ReviewThe song "Animal instinct" is here in well known album version (from "Bury the hatchet". The real treasure here is "Paparazzi on mopeds".quite depressing heavy song about the death of Lady Diana caused by the rutless Paparazzis.Dolores vocals are realy haunting.it is sad that that great song didn't find a place on Regular album. the two live tracks are nice too, but they are nothing special.get it for rare "Paparazzi on mopeds".Animal Instinct / Paparazzi on Mopeds Overview

What a Blast: Architecture in Motion (1999) ReviewLet's get one thing straight from the outset: this is not so much a study of explosive demolition gangs at work, as a series of music videos using explosive demolition coverage as the source of the images. The original films have been processed - sometimes lightly, sometimes beyond recognition - as well as cut, looped, spliced and generally reordered to make it fit 7 musical soundtracks of electronic synthesiser music by the German band, Tangerine Dream, not the other way around! And while there are the occasional comments from the demolition experts, these are sampled and woven into the musical fabric more than they are used to construct anything of a documentary nature.
The result is seven short video essays celebrating the visual appeal of man-made structures collapsing into heaps of rubble. Whether or not this is the kind of things that appeals to you - and there is no denying that there is a certain kind of fascination in such spectacles for most people - I suspect that most viewers will feel that they're in danger of O-D'ing somewhere along the line here. Many of the same demolition events feature over and over - almost ad nauseam in some cases - and I for one had certainly had enough of it by the end. Some brief respite is offered by the central track, `Beauty of the Blast', through its extensive use of kaleidoscopic (and other) video processing to produce purely abstract imagery the source for which is often hard to discern. Some of these images are really quite stunning and even fairly well cued to the music! Ultimately, though, the whole enterprise comes across as rather shallow. Most of the tracks are an endless series of climaxes bereft of foreplay, of events out of context, of spectacle separated from the source of its own particular artistry.
As a series of music videos, the disc works a little bit better than Tangerine Dream's American Southwest releases ("Canyon Dreams" and "Oasis") - and way better than their "Video Dream Mixes". I suspect that this is largely because essential environmental sounds have been retained, so that there is far less dislocation between video and audio components as occurs on these others. Nevertheless, the disjointed and repetitive video footage here is difficult to watch for long (or repeatedly) except as a distraction when there's something really unpleasant you're putting off doing! Having said that, I would recommend watching the tracks in order and not availing yourself of the random play feature that the disc offers: it all works better if watched in order. (If you're watching in a widescreen TV, watch out for the track called "Dream Sculpture" - it is in widescreen format, but has a tendancy to switch the TV into different aspect ratios during play on my set!)
This DVD also incorporates 6 short films dedicated to particular explosive demolitions. These contain nothing that isn't already used to excess throughout the main music videos so don't really contribute to the package in any way.
Bearing in mind that the music (available separately, by the way - and see my review of the CD for a warning or two about that!) remains paramount to this release, I'd say that this DVD was for TD-completists only. Or else for anyone absolutely addicted to the sight of buildings, bridges or agricultural structures toppling into ruin. If you're in the former category, buy now! If you're of the latter persuasion, however, you might be more interested in the alternative bumper bundle "What a Blast" collection, rather than this! ....What a Blast: Architecture in Motion (1999) Overview

Third Stone From the Sun (1995) ReviewThis scarce film was originally sold at Radio Shack. They used it to demonstrate their TV's because unlike the normal 18 frames per second, this was filmed at a higher speed (24 frames?). Consequently, when water splashes, you see every drop. Rich music and only a smattering of dialog, the story is of an exta-terrestial child who's planet is doomed so he's been sent to search for a new world. A white Schooner guided by a spirit helper shows him the great Northwest. Sometimes I'll watch the film with the volume off and substitute music of my own. Maybe one of the most unusual films you'll ever see and one of the few you'll watch over and over again.Third Stone From the Sun (1995) Overview

Driver 23 & Atlas Moth (2002) ReviewI bought this based on the good reviews posted here, and I can say that I wasn't disappointed. In Driver 23/Atlas Moth, a window is provided into the world of Dan Cleveland, and what a strange world it is...one filled with delusions of grandeur and unfulfilled dreams. I knew a guy exactly like Dan, someone who was involved in so many projects, who had big dreams, but was never quite able to grab that brass ring. What's so endearing about Dan is his eternally optimistic outlook, the 'never say die' attitude. No matter what roadblocks are placed before him, he tries to go over them, around them, or even under them and continue to plod along. While endearing, this attitude can be harmful. Most people know when to quit, change gears, and focus their energies towards more fruitful ventures, but Dan seems determined to ride it out, regardless of the consequences, even if it means losing everything. Sorry to say my friend passed away sometime ago, but I feel like I got to spend a little more time with him in watching Dan and his travails.
Driver 23 is a movie about Dan, a delivery driver by day, and the lead singer of a Minneapolis-based rock band called Dark Horse. Dan suffers from a myriad of problems that he takes medication for, but none of that seems to slow him down. Half of his band quits, and he keeps going....his wife moves across the country to take a job, and he keeps going. A man truly determined to fly into the face of logic regardless. And I swear, that guy must always have a roll of duct tape with him, and he's quite liberal with its uses. Oh yeah, I also loved when Dan built his own recording studio in his basement. It looked so creepy and funky as he used whatever materials he had handy, cinder blocks, pieces of wood, etc.
In Atlas Moth, we get to see a continuance to where Driver 23 left off. Dan, now that his wife has left for good, lives a somewhat squalid apartment, but is still pressing on, despite his faculties sometimes being hamstringed by various medications (seems like he is taking more than before). After seven long years, we find that the Dark Horse CD is nearing completion. Being the perfectionist he is, Dan is taking an extra long time in postproduction, and his fellow band members are getting a little antsy. No real conclusions here, but another very intimate, uncensored glimpse into one man's life, duct taped slippers and all. At the very least, no one can say he did try to follow his dreams. Can we say the same about ourselves?Driver 23 & Atlas Moth (2002) OverviewAs an antidote for the bloated, manufactured rock stars of the MTVgeneration, these films are packed with stranger-than-fiction human comedy and down toearth realism. Driver 23 and The Atlas Moth document seven years in the life of DanCleveland, a Minneapolis-based rock guitarist/deliveryman and his band, Dark Horse. Inspite of (or because of) a complex obsessive compulsive disorder, Dan is driven by anexistential need to simply accomplish. An intense optimist, he meets all obstacles to hismusical ambitions with uncanny determination, amazing perseverance, and strange"inventions" which visualize frustrations and make tangible the workings of his mind.Winner of 9 National/International Film Awards.

Hip Hop Colony (2006) ReviewWow there has never been a film I have purchased that is as dear to me as this one. There are so many reasons why one should get hold of it.
1. The Film itself is of very high standards...Strong script and production, very informative and most of all entertaining.
2. If u r a hip hop fanatic, general music fun, then this will inspire u regardless of what type of music u r into. The life of a musician is somewhat the same globally.
3. If u r of African decent, in particular Kenyan then u should be so proud. First beacuse it shows that we are capable of producing good films...secondly because of the content of the film.
Buy it for yourself, friends and any one in the entertainment industry....invest in your country it's your heritage.Hip Hop Colony (2006) Overview

The Long Kiss Goodnight: Music From The Motion Picture ReviewAlong with "Not talking about the linen" and "Free" by Tracy Bonham it's also missing the Xmas song too.
