Jamie Kennedy: Uncomfortable (2010) ReviewWe've just pre-ordered this after seeing it on cable, and as the other reviewer states, I thought, Well...when I saw the opening skit with (then) girlfriend Hewitt. I've tended to steer clear of the kind of humor I've always associated with Jamie, Adam Sandler...even Jerry Seinfeld doesn't always 'click' for me, despite his god-like reverence in the comedy world. I loved the show part of 'Seinfeld', but didn't even notice when they dropped Seinfeld's opening and closing monologues somewhere along the line. Kennedy, with his frat-boy humor - definitely R rated and often complete with physical acting out of what he's saying -, struck me as a non-keeper. Have I ever heard Kennedy discuss politics? Well, he does mention Obama a couple of times in this special, noting that the main change our President's election meant for him was to order his coffee "Ba-rack" with cream. But no, he doesn't gut anybody the way Lenny Bruce or Bill Hicks did, nor does he get into hunger, bigotry, etc. He touches on gay rights - gay marriage being shot down in California gets as hard hitting a jab as Kennedy tends to land, and it is funny and made me realize the hypocrisy of what we call laws in this country. But mostly he discusses sex, the American over-compensating for not speaking a foreign language by slooow-iiing down his/her speech or suddenly affecting the same accent as the other person, etc. He's also surprisingly self-effacing, mentioning that he is recognized mostly by homeless people - "Maybe because they find alot of my DVDs in the garbage." I almost fell over laughing when Kennedy went into physical and verbal detail of a specific sexual act, how perhaps it could have been named something differently (My suggestion would be "Keep Your Face In The Dirt, My Princess!"), and I'm a female, not a nineteen year old guy over on the campus. Basically, what I learned from watching this cable show totally by chance is that sometimes, you just need to laugh. It doesn't matter if it will be selling thirty years from now (I still don't get why people think specific comedians hung the moon with "So, do you think a plane has keys? What if the pilot loses the keys?"), and it doesn't matter if the guy on camera agreed with my political, religious or life-after-death views. Jamie Kennedy just makes me laugh, and now I'm going to get off my high horse and check out The Jamie Kennedy Experiment DVDs. Merry Christmas!Jamie Kennedy: Uncomfortable (2010) Overview
